Gui Opera
Guilin opera is among the top operas of China, titled together with Shanghai opera, Peking opera, Cantonese opera etc. With a long history that can be dated back to Ming Dynasty, it is performed in Guilin dialect, telling stories by use of vivid facial expressions and lifelike body languages. It also has a rich repertoire with a lot of movements like singing and dancing involved. Prevalent in Liuzhou, Hechi, Nanning, Guilin, Wuzhou etc., Gui opera is greatly loved by local citizens and travelers throughout the world. Besides, it has won a lot of rewards as well. In 1950, Bracelet-a show of Gui Opera performed by Guilin Gui Opera Troupe had won the second prize in performance and the first prize in performer in China Opera Show. And some time later, the Legend of Concubine Yao, a new play by the troupe, had been rewarded the Wenhua Prize by China Cultural Administration. So as to protect this precious opera, State Council has approved it as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage on the day 20th May, 2006.

Guilin Folk Art Forms
Guilin folk art form has played a vital role in the history of Chinese folk arts and is regarded as the major representative of it. It is the generic term of different local musical telling types, including "Wenchang"(文场), "Yugu"(渔鼓), "Dagu"(大鼓), "Tanci"(弹词) and "Linglingluo"(零零落). With special Guilin characteristics, these folk art forms are performed in Guilin local dialect melted with folk songs in South China, Dagu in North china and Tanci in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. In 1962, a professional folk arts troupe was founded in Guilin and it had almost 100 plays up to 1991. Representing Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it had participated in the China National Folk Art Forms Show for 4 times. All the plays of Wu'niang Going to the Capital, Toasting, Qingwen Sewing the Clothes, New Official Taking Position of Linglingluo and Chunlan Yin have received great awards as well as deafening applause from people both home and abroad.

a) Dreamland Theater

b) Li River Yinzuo Ferry
Address: No.2 Dock, Binjiang Road on the west bank of Li River
Reason for recommendation: This luxury ferry integrates ballroom, bar and Karaoke together. Travelers can admire the fantastic scenery on both banks and enjoy the modern entertainment.
c) Li River Ethnic Night
Address: No.2 Dock, Binjiang Road on the west bank of Li River, next to Li River Yinzuo Ferry.
Reason for recommendation: It is made up of Li River Night Cruise and Dancing in the Water Pavillion. Travelers can have the chance to watch the ethnic performance as well as enjoy a cruise along the Li River.
d) Li River Folk Customs Center
Address: situated at the conjunction of Liver River and Xiaodong River.
