Aviation
Lijiang Airport is about 28 kilometers away from the south of the city center. Usually travelers prefer to transfer from Kunming to Lijiang by air or by long-distance buses. Now, one can also take flights directly to Lijiang from Shanghai. Flights from Kunming to Lijiang cost about 580RMB with an air journey of 40 minutes. Travelers can buy tickets from the Civil Aviation Ticket Center in Kunming or Huifu Road in Lijiang County. Besides, the airport also provides shuttles to send passengers to the downtown.

In general, Lijiang is a quite mature tourist site with an advanced highroad network. Transportation between all scenic spots mainly relies on various buses.

Charted Buses
If you want to go somewhere far, you can also charter a bus, with which you could visit all the famous scenic places namely Shu River, Yufeng Temple, Yuhu Village, Baisha fresco etc. within one day. It will charge you 80-150 RMB. The privately-owned minibuses for chartering are mainly gathering at Red Sun Square and Lijiang Bus Station.
Touring in RVs
If you would like to travel from Old Town Lijiang to Lugu Lake, Shangri-La, Meili Snow Mountain, Yading, Daocheng, Tibet and so forth, you can also rent a RV, solving both transportation and accommodation problems. It is extremely suitable for a group of friends and free walkers with a price of 800-1200 RMB/ per day.
Taxis
The starting(minimum) fare of ordinary taxis: 6 RMB/ 3 kilometers, and 1.6/per kilometer after the first three; the starting(minimum) fare of Santana: 7 RMB/ 3 kilometers and 1.8/ per kilometer after the first three. No fare will be charged during the waiting period.
Bikes
Renting a bike to travel around the county is another good option. You can go to Red Sun Square to rent one with a fee of 15 RMB/ per day.
