How to visit Badaling Great Wall by Train

Badaling Great Wall is a section of Great Wall of China, which is firm and magnificent, well preserved and original. It is about 80km far from downtown Beijing. You can reach Badaling Great Wall by train from downtown Beijing. There are 2 daily trains from Beijing North Railway Station to Badaling Great Wall, which takes about one hour to reach the wall.

Tickets are easy to get and the ticket fee is very cheap. The soft seat ticket costs RMB 17, and the hard seat ticket costs RMB 14. Besides, You can also take Bus 919 at Deshengmen to Badaling Great Wall. If you take a train, you are suggested to buy a round trip ticket. You do not need to worry about how to get back, as there are 3 daily trains from Badaling Great Wall to Beijing North Railway Station.

On the way to Badaling Great Wall by train, you can enjoy the view of the Guan Valley Scenic Area, pass by Juyongguan Great Wall. After the train has reached the last stop, Yanqing County, you need to get off the train and go on walking eastward for 20 minutes, then you will see the Badaling Great Wall up and you get to the foot of Badaling Great Wall.

Tips about the trip:

1.Remember to book a round a round trip ticket in case the the tickets have been booked fully. You know, there are so many travellers who visit Badaling Great Wall daily.

2.Although all the sections of the Wall are open to tourists all year round, you also need to pick up a great time to visit. The best time to visit the wall falls on  spring, early summer, autumn. If you plan to visit the wall in winter, we do suggest you check the weather report, because the road access to sections may be blocked due to the heavy snow or bad weather.

3.You need to avoid weekends or public holidays for the Wall. Weekends and public holidays are the peak time when there are a great number of people on the Wall. You had better visit the Wall during the weekdays instead of weekends.

4.Book an early ticket in the morning. Get early in the morning because you need to catch the train and take an hour to get the wall. If you want to stay overnight to camp on the wall, you do not need to get early up, but remember to take a tent and enough the cold-proof stuff as it is not warm at night on the wall whatever the season.
