Jiuzhaigou, located at 400km north of Chengdu city, near the Sichuan-Gansu provincial borders, is one of the most famous tourist destinations in China. Jiuzhaigou Valley was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. Jiuzhaigou valley have a large number of lake groups, waterfalls and rich variety of endangered plants. In the past few years, it is difficult to visit the Jiuzhaigou because of the its isolated location. But now, things have changed. Today most visitors go to Jiuzhaigou by transfering at Chengdu to take long-distance buses or flights due to the construction of the Jiuzhaigou Ring Way which links Chengdu and the Jiuhuang Airport.
What to see in Jiuzhaigou?Jiuzhaigou is known for its outstanding plateau landscapes and folk customs. As its name implies, there really are nine Tibetan villages within the Jiuzhaigou: Panxin, Rize, Yacuo, Panya, Zechawa, Heijiao, Shuzheng, Heye, and Zharu. The most famous tourist attractions are Jiuzhaigou Park, Huanglong Park, Four Maidens Mountain, and the Wolong Panda Nature Reserve that are worth visiting for you. Besides, the valley is surrounded by snow mountains, primeval forests and hundreds of lakes and ponds. Colorful lakes and various waterfalls are highlights in Jiuzhaigou, which are also must-to-see attractions.
Climate:Jiuzhaigou belongs to the moisture plateau climate. It has snow at the top of those mountains at Jiuzhaigou Valley throughout the whole year. That are so called snow mountains, which is a line of scenery of Jiuzhaigou. April to November is the best time to visit Jiuzhaigou which covers from spring to fall season due to the pleasant climate. However, temperature changes quickly from daytimes to nights. Even in summer, the temperature is between 19℃ and 22℃, but it is still a little cold at summer nights, so travellers are suggested to prepare for cold-proof clothes at any time when you travel to Jiuzhaigou. You had better not visit
Jiuzhaigou in winter due to the cold weather. Another thing you have to remember is to avoid the gold holidays of China, which means a very crowded Jiuzhaigou valley for the travellers.
Food:Historically, Jiuzhaigou has been home to small population of Tibetan and Qing people, so it provides a good chance to get to know more about the local unique food, life and culture. When you reach here, you will find that there are a lot of restaurants which offer local tibetan food, including buttered tea and some highland barley wine and yak meat in different sytles. However, not all visitors like the strong flavor of the Tibetan food. If you are not not customed to the local food, you can go to some other restaurants which offer not only good quality Chinese food and Western food.
Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic Area remains a well maintained and popular tourist destination in China, especially for those love natural beauty.
