Da Ming Temple is among the first group open-up key temples of Chinese Buddhism, and incorporates Buddhist temple, historical relics with garden scenery and international Buddhism education into the whole. It is an important unit of cultural relics under protection at the national level and national AAAA scenic zone.
Since ancient time till now, Da Ming Temple has produced a large number of eminent monks. No matter it is the emperor and virtuous ministers, literati and poets, or the talents from home and abroad and tourists, or the pious prayers, they all enjoy the trip. Their good luck and wisdom have also increased after the trip.

Inside the temple there are Jian Zhen Memorial Hall, Ping Shan Hall, Qi Ling Pagoda, and West Garden .
Da Ming Temple , the ancient temple with thousands of years' history, is a shining pearl of Yangzhou and famous around the world. During the Southern Dynasty, the temple was named after the title of Emperor Song Xiaowu's reign. Its name was changed into Qi Ling in the Tang dynasty. In the Song dynasty it was named Da Ming again. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing dynasty, Da Ming which indicated Ming dynasty became a taboo, thus the temple is entitled as Fa Jing Temple. It resumed its old name Da Ming in 1980 when the statue of Jianzhen Monk returned to its hometown China from Japan . |
