Zhangfei Temple

Zhangfei Temple

The Zhang Fei Temple was constructed to honor General Zhang Fei, a Chinese military leader from the Three Kingdoms Period. With a history of 1,700 years, the temple is known as "the first scenery of Bashu". The temple consists of 7 key buildings: Front palace, Side Palace, Sworn Brothers Buildings, Cloud-view Pavilion, Zhufeng Pavilion, Cuckoo Pavilion and Moon Pavilion. The first five buildings were built in memory of Zhangfei and the last two buildings were built in memory of Du Fu, a famous poet in Tang Dynasty, who stayed there for two years. Actually, this temple is a unique one in memory of both civil and martial figures. In July of 2003, it’s entirely relocated to the Panshi Town on the south bank of the Yangtze River over 32km upstream and the opposite to the new county town.
